NEW MOON IN ARIES SOLAR ECLIPSE
(19 DEGREES) 1:32 pm EST

The New Moon Phase is the only Moon Phase where there is no direct visual experience of the Moon as the Moon is traveling near the Sun. When the New Moon is exact there is no Moon visible at all because the Moon is with the Sun. Therefore the dark of the Moon or New Moon window (the day before, day of and day after the exact New Moon) is a wonderful time for collectively planting seeds, or sending out prayers, for healing and dreaming new dreams.

This New Moon also happens to be a Solar Eclipse activating a window from now until the Lunar Eclipse on Apr 24. This is often experienced as an "in-between the world’s" effect where many feel disoriented and confused. For some it may not feel like much is happening but that may be deceiving. Often, it's when we look back over the months following an eclipse we get more of a sense of what was activated. Solar eclipses signal the end of a karmic chapter; we have completed a major lesson and are graduating to the next. In Aries, we are doubly challenged to let go and venture into the unknown. It is time to be assertive, energetic, and courageous. Where this eclipse falls in your natal chart is where you are approaching a new frontier. The house position and any planets aspected by 19° Aries show where you are ready to take a risk and act on your own initiative. On April 8, 1986, there was a solar eclipse at 19°06' Aries, working similar areas and issues. Last fall, on October 13, 2004, there was a solar eclipse at 21° Libra that opened new pathways for cooperative efforts. This solar eclipse helps us to see where we are blazing new trails for ourselves and others to follow.

The ruling planet of Aries, Mars, is traveling through Aquarius, turning our heads toward alternative (or even radical) directions. The Warrior asks us to be courageous and not blindly defer to convention and conformity. Mars is just a few days away from joining Neptune at l7° Aquarius (exact on April 13). Neptune, the mythic God of the Sea, steers us in the direction of compassion, collaboration, and community. Mars closely trines Jupiter in Libra, adding to the celestial message that we'll go much farther if we combine our efforts and refuse to settle for anything less than a win-win for all concerned.

Venus at 21° Aries closely conjuncts the Sun and Moon, energizing the experience of beauty and the power of love. Venus in Aries opens our hearts to new goals and partners. Saturn at 21° Cancer tightly squares the Sun, Moon, and Venus, advising us to be conscientious and receptive. Squares are turning points; we are ready to turn a corner, change direction, and shift our perception. Saturn square the Sun blocks whatever is not in alignment with our highest good. Saturn square the Moon tests our emotional maturity and resolve. And Saturn square Venus forces us to realize that love (and security) is an inside job.

Mercury finally goes direct on April 12th. Somehow it seems to have been going on extra long. We hope you were able to accomplish your "re-work" during this retrograde period. Mercury is still moving slowly and isn't happy until it is moving forward at a pretty good clip. So, you may still feel some of the effects of the retrograde through the 20th.

What areas of your life do you want to break free from the norm and become the inovator? The NEW MOON is the time to manifest the attributes and things you want to bring to you. Possible phrasing: I now manifest ____ into my life. I am now _______ . Remember, think and envision as though you already have what you want. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts and visuals about yourself. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different then we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
