New Moons are optimal times for setting new intentions. A New Moon in Aquarius calls us to envision the future. What are your most cherished hopes and dreams? If you ruled the world, what kind of world would that be? Each one of us is an agent of change. Every one of us has a unique and vital role to play. We are all participating in the Turning of the Ages, in the birthing of a new world and a new template for the evolution of consciousness. How can we not see this huge shift, with "The Secret" cast appearing on Oprah, Ellen and Larry king Live? Our future depends on how we integrate and use this information for the choices each of us are making right now as individuals and as part of a larger whole.

This is the sixth New Moon in a row occurring in the last degrees of a sign. Beginning with the solar eclipse at 29° Virgo on September 22 and continuing through the solar eclipse at 28° Pisces on March 18, we've been called to the highest possible expression of each sign. The spiritual quest of Aquarius is to realize both our unique identity and our participation with the greater whole. In Connie Kaplan's book, The Invisible Garment, the 29th degree corresponds to the spiritual principle of Movement, the eternal dance of light as both particle and wave. She reminds us: "Your community will come when you have the ability to remember your own essential pattern." As the eleventh sign in an archetypal cycle of twelve, Aquarius represents the threshold of individuation, where we act on our own internalized sense of authority. If we have not successfully navigated the first ten stages of development - especially the tenth, Capricorn, which is the development of a healthy sense of responsibility and self-reliance - we get stuck in the rebel phase of the eleventh. The rebel must ultimately be for something, not just against everything. The myth of Prometheus illustrates the archetypal journey of the rebel. Out of love and compassion for the human race, Prometheus defied the gods, the status quo, and gave the gift of fire, of creativity, to all mortals. His subsequent punishment for this selfless act symbolizes that nonconformity and seeking to improve the human condition often exact a price.

Pluto's close sextile to the Sun and Moon helps us to see through the beliefs that hold us back - and the accompanying fears of reprisal, ridicule, or rejection. Many of us have struggled with feeling like a black sheep or a weirdo; discovering that others share our values and ideals enables us to reclaim our power. Pluto's approaching square to Venus (February 19 at 29° Sagittarius-Pisces) nudges us to remember what is in our hearts and to release any remnants of martyrdom or victim mentality. Aquarius is the third air sign, so it deals with the power of the group mind. What we are thinking, we are sending. This is a time to take radical responsibility for our lives --our thoughts, feelings and actions -- and to remember that we dreamed this all up, and we can now dream another dream, the Aquarian dream of freedom and equality, abundance and peace.

This New Moon asks us to remember what we were born for and focus on what is needed for our dreams to come true. Declare your intentions and goals to the universe, and keep in mind: "It takes courage to push yourself to places that you have never been before ... to test your limits ... to break through barriers. PLAN YOUR OWN NEW MOON CEREMONY. Give yourself some quiet time in meditation to see where you need to seed new ways of becoming. List these areas within your life you want to change. What areas do you want to break free from the norm and become more productive and discerning? The NEW MOON is the time to manifest the personal attributes you want to cultivate as well as the tangible things you want to bring to you. Possible phrasing: I now manifest ____ into my life. I am now _______ . Remember, think, envision and feel with as much emotion as possible, as though you already have what you want. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts, visuals and emotions. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, "We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. " If we want to be different than we must change our thoughts. "If you always do what you've always done then you'll always get what you've always got." CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
